Description
The SiOnyx Aurora Day/Night Camera is the latest in digital night vision technology, surpassing the performance and selection of features found in any other digital night vision camera. SiOnxy developed a day/night monocular utilizing a proprietary ultra low light CMOS sensor that’s transformed the industry. With more than 40 patents, the low-light technology allows the 1″ sensor to gather a tremendous amount of light. With three different modes (daylight, twilight, and night), the camera can take photo and 720p resolution video in monochrome, green, or even color night vision. Compared to industry leading low-light DSLR cameras such as the Sony a7S II, the Aurora outperforms in every respect (Sony’s 409,600 ISO vs. Aurora’s equivalent 812,000 ISO). While some military spec night vision scopes utilizing phosphor intensifier tubes will outperform the Aurora in extremely low-light environments, the Aurora holds its own quite well at 1/4 or less of the cost. In U.S. military tests, the Aurora was found comparable to a Generation 3 PVS-14 when used with ambient light at 4 millilux or greater.
The SiOnyx Aurora holds the distinction of being the World’s 1st water-resistant Day/Night Camera and the only hi-definition, color action-camera with true day and night imaging. Unlike scopes using phosphor tubes, the Aurora can be used in daylight without the risk of damaging the sensor. The unit records up to 4 hours of video on a 32 GB Micro SD card (not included). Video frame rates can be set from 8 to 60 fps and the camera is GPS and WiFi enabled. A free downloadable phone app allows the user to live stream video to social media and to use other functions such as navigating waypoints by GPS and locating other team members. The Aurora is also fully exportable to other countries because it’s not regulated by U.S. Department of State or Commerce regulations.
